I'm going to buy my daughter a play kitchen for her birthday but I don't know which one to get! There are so many and a huge price range. What kitchen did you buy and do you like it? If you bought a wood one was it worth the extra money? Help me decide please!

I found a Step 2 kitchen on craigslist in great condition, and food came with it. It is a great size, perfect for a couple kids to play with at the same time. Has the fridge, microwave, oven, phone, sink, cabinets, and drawers. Nice colors that go with the house. Also looks like something of good quality, not like a lot of the other ghetto-looking stuff out there. You can fine it on One Step Ahead, or usually Toys R Us will carry it. I would definately try craigslist first.
I bought the American Plastics Home-style Kitchen from Walmart for $45. My only complaint is how long it takes to assemble. It is like putting together a model car. But the outcome is great. I bought it for my daughter this past Christmas when she just turned 2. And she absolutely loved it and still loves it. And it is still in excellent condition. She plays with it everyday. I also have pics of the before and after than I can email. It took me about 4 hours to assemble. Also, it fits perfectly in the corner of a room.
This play set features a realistic child-sized counter top with light-up burners and a “ticking” timer with bell. When pots and pans are placed on the burners, the play set activates bubbling and sizzling sounds. There are seven reinforced doors on the refrigerator, oven, microwave and several cupboards, adding a sense of organization and allowing for hours of play. Other features include a sink with a removable sprayer-faucet, storage shelves and a play microwave.

I bought a Step 2 Grand Walk in and it is a huge hit with our playdates. It can accommodate 3 children, we have had it almost 1 year now and no complaints except the sink should make a water noise but all the other sounds are adorable and realistic!
originally i had bought my daughter the American Home Plastics kitchen from Kmart for about $50. It was so flimsy and totally lacked storage. It was hard to play with because every time you opened the oven or refrigerator things would come flying off the top because it was just so flimsy. We ended up buying her another one from KidKraft, the Red Vintage Toy Kitchen. It is so much better. It is wooden and very durable and my daughter plays with it so much more than she did her first one. I did see two new kitchens that just came out by KidKraft that look really cool. I kind of wish we waited now but she loves her.
